This is known as presbyopia. You will find that close vision becomes increasingly difficult over several years but you will usually reach a point where the vision stops changing. This is a normal process that all eyes go through, but it can be very frustrating. It is very easily corrected and there are many forms of correction available. Wearing glasses will not make your vision deteriorate further and it does not necessarily mean that you will need to wear glasses all the time.
Here at R J Holmes Opticians we will discuss those options with you and help you work out which form of correction will work the best with you and your lifestyle. You may decide that simple reading glasses are all that are required, or you may find a varifocal lens works better for you.
